Old fashioned broccoli salad gets a healthy makeover with a delicious new dressing you will want to put on everything. A summertime staple that should never be store bought…

2 pounds broccoli and/ or Romanesco broccoli
4 green onions, sliced
1/2 cup slivered almonds or sunflower seeds
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/3 cup tahini
1/4 cup sesame oil
1/4 cup tangerine or orange juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons tamari sauce or coconut aminos
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon almond butter
A few dashes of hot sauce
Spicy salt & black pepper to taste

Optional: crumbled cooked bacon

Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes and then immediately plunge into an ice water bath to stop the cooking. Drain well and pay dry. Place broccoli in a bowl with the green onions,” & cranberries.
Mix all the dressing ingredients together - I use a small blender - and pour over the broccoli, onions and cranberries and toss.
Salad can sit in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving. Sprinkle with almonds just before serving.

The dressing is also great on kale and cabbage salads and a great alternative for Chinese chicken salad.
