Sweeten your Valentine’s Day with these irresistible double chocolate banana donuts. Nothing says love louder than a homemade treat and given it’s made with bananas, it’s healthy, right…?
Recipe:
3 medium-to-large very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup (115 grams) butter, melted
3/4 cup (145 grams) brown sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon table salt
1 cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour (gluten-free flour blend will work too)
1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
1 cup (170g) semisweet chocolate chunks or chips
Place the mashed bananas in a mixing bowl. Add the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract and egg. Whisk well to combine. Place the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder in a sieve and sift. Stir into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chucks.
Using a piping bag or ziplock back, pipe the batter into prepared silicone donut molds. Bake at 350°F/180°C for 15 - 17 minutes.
Cool and decorate.
