The easiest bar to add to your holiday baking repertoire. I love the tang was of cranberries so I used leftover cranberry sauce but any of your favorite jams will work beautifully .
Recipe:
For the base and crumble:
1 stick of butter + 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
1 1/2 cups (188 grams) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Cranberry sauce or your favorite jam. I love apricot here too.
Cinnamon sugar for sprinkling
Place all the ingredients for the crumble in a food processor and pulse until a crumble forms. Don’t over process.
Press half the crumble into an 8”x8” baking dish or a 1/4 sheet pan, lined with parchment paper.
Spread a thick layer of jam or cranberry sauce over the base.
Top with the remaining crumble.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30-35 minutes . Cool and cut into bars.
