Dinner
5 Minute Teryaki Sauce
Yes, you read that right...it only takes 5 minutes to make the tastiest teryaki sauce.
Did you know teriyaki sauce takes only 5 minutes to make? No need to buy the store bought stuff ever again. Use it on any protein of your choice - I use half of the sauce as a marinade and the other half to brush on the grilled chicken/shrimp/steak or tofu. Serve with jasmine rice (ready-cooked frozen rice will help make this a super quick meal), sautéed broccoli, kimchi and quick-pickled cucumbers on the side.
Recipe:
1 cup soy sauce, tamari or coconut aminos
1/2 cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch or tapioca starch blended into a little water before adding to the sauce
Sesame seeds
Pour soy sauce into a saucepan over medium high heat and add sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar and then add the ginger, garlic and honey. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce is thickened. Stir in the sesame seeds and cool before using as a marinade.
